Abrasion-resistant Conveyor Belts

EVER JOY supplies abrasion-resistant rubber conveyor belts for abrasive bulk materials. The rubber cover protects the carcass against surface wear, while the reinforcement carries the working tension. The correct cover grade and belt construction must be selected together.

Applications

Typical applications include crushed stone, sand, gravel and mineral handling in quarries, mines, cement plants and ports. Abrasion, cutting, gouging and loading impact are different damage mechanisms. A good laboratory abrasion result alone does not guarantee resistance to every type of damage.

Information needed for selection

Conveyed material, lump size, abrasiveness and moisture.
Loading height, chute design, belt speed and conveyor layout.
Finished belt strength, carcass type, ply count and pulley sizes.
Belt width, length, top/bottom cover thicknesses and edge type.

Photos of wear on the existing belt help distinguish surface abrasion from impact, edge damage or cutting. Increasing thickness alone may not resolve a problem caused by the loading arrangement or an unsuitable cover compound.

Rubber grades and execution standards

State the required cover grade, such as the specified DIN 22102 grade, together with the applicable edition and test requirements. Rubber tensile strength, elongation and abrasion loss describe different properties. Cover strength in MPa must not be confused with finished belt strength in N/mm.

Agree the inspection criteria, dimensional tolerances and required test documentation in the order. Do not substitute grade names across standards without comparing their requirements.
